West Virginia License Plate Highs, 1976-date - The Andrew Turnbull License Plate Gallery

This table lists the highest letter block series I've confirmed for each expiration month in each year since the graphic map base was introduced in 1976, thus providing a means of tracking the progression of each series over time.

Numbering for each month proceeded from xA-1001 to xZ-9999, then from xAA-101 to xZM-999 (using A through M only in the third position) and finally from xAN-101 to a theoretical high of xZZ-999 (although no month got this far, and some didn't even exceed xZM). Numbering restarted when the current license plate series was introduced for 1996 and proceeded in a similar fashion, although the entire series from A through Z began to be used in order regardless of position circa 2000.

A question mark indicates that a license plate from the indicated letter block has been confirmed with the indicated year sticker, but I do not know whether or not it is a natural validation. Some of the information for more recent expiration years has been sourced from the West Virginia Highs page on LicensePlates.cc.
