Q: What is "Lost A Whole Year"?
A: "Lost A Whole Year" is the name of my fan site on the World
Wide Web, dedicated to Third Eye Blind, one of my favorite bands of all time. It is maintained by Andrew Turnbull.
Q: How long has "Lost A Whole Year" been active? How is the site hosted?
A: This website went live on May 31, 2003. It
can be traced, however, to a number of HTML documents I created over a
year before that. From 2003 through April 2005 it was hosted by GeoCities; when I resumed maintenance of the site in April 2005, I moved it to a subfolder of my existing personal website on my university's community hosting service available to students, faculty, and staff.
Q: How long have you been a fan of Third Eye Blind?
A: Since 1998.
Q: What does the title of the site mean?
A: "Lost A Whole Year" is a corruption of the 3eb song
"Losing A Whole Year."
Q: What is the status of Third Eye Blind today?
A: Third Eye Blind are still together and tour sporadically. However, the question of whether or not Third Eye Blind are still signed to Elektra Entertainment, their label since 1997, appears to be a question mark. Elektra itself is a shadow of its former self, having been folded into fellow Warner Music Group label Atlantic on March 31, 2004 as part of a corporate shake-up in which much staff was laid off and many bands were dropped. The band was working on an EP in 2003-04, but plans for this may have been scrapped. Lately the band has been including new and unreleased material in its live sets, and a fourth album is reportedly in the works, but if, when, and how it will see release also remains a mystery.
Q: Can you give me backstage passes?
A: No.
Q: Can I submit content for the site?
A: Yes! If you have something interesting and Third Eye Blind-related you'd like to put on this site (that is appropriate and isn't too copyright-infringing), feel free to tell me about it, and I'll see what I can do. (Note: No one has ever yet submitted content.)
Q: How did you create "Lost A Whole Year"?
A: I code all HTML (and CSS) by hand, using a text editor. Recently, my preferred application has been a free and feature-rich text editor for Windows called Notespad, although I have used other programs before.
When I resumed maintenance of the site in 2005, I phased out noncomplient and deprecated markup and converted pages to XHTML.
Q: Why is this Q & A getting really boring?
A: Boring questions warrant boring answers. :-)
